The election for Honorary New York City Dog Mayor consists of 16 candidates in a March Madness-style bracket. Canine-didates may be any breed of dog and must reside within NYC's 5 boroughs. Voters may reside anywhere and may vote from any of the election's social media platform-- our Instagram Stories, our Facebook group polls, or our Twitter polls. The winner is crowned Honorary Dog Mayor of NYC, with the runner-up being the Honorary Deputy Dog Mayor of NYC.
Elections are every other year and begin in July, with the final two candidates facing off on the first Tuesday in November. Winning mayoral candidates may only serve 2 terms. The initial election was held entirely online, with live events scheduled in multiple New York City locations.
